Rafter J Mechanical Bulls is a family owned and operated business
established in 2002 by Jim and Mary Ann Nolan. Deeply rooted in the
cowboy way of life, Jim Nolan was a bull rider and a professional
rodeo bull fighter for 8 years, protecting the safety of bull
riders from lashing hooves and horns of raging bulls. Jim
entertains the crowd by demonstrating riding technique on our
mechanical bulls and saddle bronc horse and he also gives pointers
to new riders. We also give roping lessons on the Rodeo Roper.
Safety, courtesy, and realistic western rides make our service top
notch for anyone who wants to entertain western style. We instruct
and entertain the “cowboy way.” Crowds love to watch these events.
Rafter J Mechanical Bulls is fully insured for 1 million dollars with
2 million dollars aggregate, which we never hope to use because our
clients safety is our first regard. We use safety rated air bags,
have slow to authentic speed adjustments, and our operators are
trained to never take their eyes off the rider. Our high tech bulls
and broncs stop on a dime if the rider needs it.

Exceptional Rodeos is now scheduling a 30 stop tour serving special
needs children and adults with the ultimate exceptional rodeo
experience. We give everyone the opportunity to ride a super safe
mechanical bull which has a rotating base on which helpers can stand
beside riders for stability. The mechanical bull and mechanical
saddle bronc horse are also surrounded by walled airbags. Rafter J
also developed a special low profile roping horse with a variety of
roping calves for special needs. Beginning in September, Buford a
real live Brahman show bull will join the exceptional rodeo tour
with his specialized wheelchair ramp bucking chute. Buford the bull
is so tame that anyone can pet him and get their picture taken with
him.
